D.C. High School Graduates Gifted Free Something in the Water Passes
High school graduates throughout Washington, D.C. got some unexpected good news as the mayor’s office announced they’d each receive a free pass to the Something in the Water festival.
“We are excited to take part in celebrations with families across the District to recognize the accomplishments of the graduating class of 2022,” Mayor Muriel Bowser wrote in part. “As the end of your senior year approaches, it is important that you know that all of DC is proud of you. You have reached an important milestone in your life, and you have done it during tough times.”
Graduates from all D.C. public and charter high schools will receive one free non-transferrable pass to the event. Emails have been sent to all qualifying students with instructions on how to redeem. Student ID’s will be required when picking up wristbands
Founded by Grammy-winning recording artist and producer Pharrell Williams, Something in the Water will take place June 17 to 19. This marks the first year the event has been held in Washington, D.C. The inaugural festival was held April 26-28, 2019, in Williams’ hometown of Virginia Beach, Va. The music mogul elected to move the festival to its new location following his public fallout with Virginia Beach leadership surrounding the death of his cousin, Donovan Lynch, at the hands of police.
The 2022 Something in the Water festival boasts an impressive lineup, including Anderson .Paak, 21 Savage, Dave Matthews Band, Calvin Harris, Denzel Curry, Jon Batiste, Run the Jewels, Usher and Tyler the Creator. Pharrell will perform at the event with a long list of celebrity guests, including Justin Timberlake, Clipse, N.O.R.E, Q-Tip and SZA.
Those of us who are not class of 2022 graduates can still get tickets the old way: buying them. Three-day GA passes start at $350.
